The future of Math Hut

This blog is moribund. What do you want to do about it?

I invite open discussion on the topic. I'll post one suggestion in a comment.

Anyone there?

With one of the more interesting primary seasons underway, I'm surprised there has been no activity here. Is anyone home?

Would anyone like to predict who wins in Florida? On Super Tuesday? Whether the conventions turn interesting because no one has a majority headed in?

Colbert for president

Stephen Colbert is officially running for president. He's going to be in the primaries in South Carolina (his home state). I think I'll try to convince people here to vote him.

The Chaser

Can a Canadian flag get Osama bin Laden into the APEC meeting? The Chaser's War on Everything tried to find out, with hilarious results and unfortunate arrests. The full episode (Episode 15) can be downloaded at idents.tv.

An Inconvenient Diet?

The New York Times is reporting that according to the United Nations, "...the livestock business generates more greenhouse gas emissions than all forms of transportation combined". This was a surprise to me.

I think people would be more likely to change what they drive then change their diet. Given the small percentage of vegetarians it seems like this new issue could fragment the environmental movement. Perhaps this might even cause more harm then good?

Debate debate

The YouTube debate on CNN tonight kicked ass. It was fast-paced, and the candidates got to cover a wide range of issues. Overall, I think the quality of the Democratic field is very high, with broad consensus on the important issues of our day. It's quite a stark contrast with part of a Republican debate I watched earlier this year, the major themes of which were 9/11, terror, 9/11, stay the course in Iraq, 9/11, fear, 9/11, surge!, 9/11, and links between Saddam and Osama.

Which video did you like best? Whom do you support? Discuss.

Le Tour

Is anyone following the Tour de France this year? For those of us that don't get the race on TV, are there web sites that are doing live tracking/ commentary that you'd recommend?

And more importantly, are there particular riders I should be rooting for (other than anyone tough enough to gut out two weeks on a bike with a broken tailbone)?
