Halloween costume ideas?

I want to learn to use my sewing machine and I figured making a halloween costume would be a good place to start since if I screw up it won't matter too much. Soooooooooo....
Does anyone have any suggestions for what Brian and I could be for Halloween? It has to be something relatively easy to sew so I can practice with the sewing machine and Brian has vetoed costumes involving him in tights or a dress.
In the past we have been Pi and e, and Link and Zelda. Suggestions we have gotten so far are robin hood and maid marion (Brian doesn't want to wear tights though...), and red riding hood and the wood cutter (with stuffed animal wolf which would be cute but I don't know...)
Nothing is really jumping out at me though...
What are other people going to be for halloween?

My humble suggestions:

Integral and Differential
e^x and d/dy
Neo and Trinity
Link(er) and Compil(er)
Pi(e)
Red riding Hat and Debian Woody Cutter w/ stuffed penguin
A Centaur! hmm... who wants to be the horse half? :)
Homer and Marge
Paris (Hilton) and Helen of Troy - Brian can pick which one he wants to be

As for what I'm going to be on Halloween, I suspect it's going to be something along these lines -- Man eating pumpkin pie constantly interrupted by children dressed up as fairies and Spider-Men demanding candy under the threat of boisterous mischief.

One of you could go as "silent e". That person could wear a T-shirt with the first n decimal places of e on it and make shooshing noises and motions. Meanwhile, the other could pull out props and muse out loud things like, "Who can turn a hat into hate? It's silent e!" as the other (in this instance) looks all grumpy. Tom Lehrer would approve.
